Professor (all levels) in Computational Simulation & Data Analytics at Extreme Scale​

The Computer, Electrical, and Mathematical Sciences and Engineering (CEMSE) Division at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) invites applications for faculty positions in computational simulation and data analytics at extreme scale. We particularly encourage applications by female candidates as well as applications for junior positions (assistant professor rank), although outstanding candidates of all demographics will be considered.

Computational simulation and data analytics at extreme scale are focal areas within the CEMSE Division. Appropriate candidates could be appointed to the Computer Science (CS) or Applied Mathematics and Computational Science (AMCS) programs, or both, have an affiliation with the Extreme Computing Research Center (ECRC) and have access to KAUST's Shaheen-2 supercomputer, with a performance of 5 Petaflop/s. The primary focus of the ECRC is algorithms for emerging architectures with a premium on power efficiency at scale through reduction in communication, synchronization, and storage. Experience with applications relevant to KAUST’s mission (bioinformatics, catalysis, climate, combustion, molecular dynamics, reservoir modeling, seismic inversion, etc.) is a plus.

Priority areas for 2017 are:

  •    Algorithms for extreme scale analytics
  •    Programming abstractions, techniques, and software for distributed MIC- and GPU-based architectures
  •    High performance computing systems and performance analysis​

The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics or equivalent, extensive experience in interdisciplinary research, and a strong publication record commensurate with the appointment level.
