Imene Boudellioua defended her PhD thesis

On 5 February, Imene successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis titled "Semantic Prioritization of Novel Causative Variants." Imene joined the BORG in 2015 and worked on novel machine learning methods to classify pathogenic variants using multiple types of features, including molecular information about variants and phenotypes. She also incorporated background knowledge about genetic interactions and used this information to design the OligoPVP system to prioritize combinations of variants in oligogenic disease. Her work has been featured in news articles and has been highlighted in F1000 and university websites. Congratulations, Imene!
