CBRC congratulates student poster competitions winners at this year's conference

All KAUST students with research in the field of evolutionary biology were invited to submit a poster for the student poster competition portion of the KAUST Research Conference on Big Data Analyses in Evolutionary Biology, held on December 4-6. 

Judges were asked to choose the top three most novel and interesting posters. Additionally, CBRC also unveiled the new Audience Choice Award and invited all attendees of the conference to vote for their favorite poster. Winners were announced at the closing ceremony of the conference on December 6. 

The first prize winner is CBRC Ph.D. student Alyaa Mohamed for her poster, "Insights into enteric co-infections using dual RNAseq and community modeling". She won a 128GB ipad with wi-fi and cellular.

The second prize winner is also from CBRC. Ph.D. student Amani Al Ma'abadi won a GoPro Hero5 for her poster, "Single Cell Microfluidics Screening of Metagenomic Libraries Derived from the Red Sea For Novel Lipases Enzyme". 

The third prize winner is a VSRP undergraduate student from the University of British Columbia. Nicholas Gagnon won Beats by Dre headphones for his poster, "Astrocyte Volume Morphological Analysis".

The Audience Choice Award winner is CBRC Master's student Vasiliki Kordopati. She won an Anker PowerCore for her poster, " DES-Mutation: Exploring Links of Mutations and Diseases".
