New members of CBRC

We are pleased to welcome Professor Alexandre Soares Rosado, Professor Ivan Viola, Associate Professor Raquel Pexioto and Assistant Professor Di Wang as new members of CBRC effective 1st of July 2022.

We are pleased to welcome Professor Alexandre Soares Rosado, Professor Ivan Viola, Associate Professor Raquel Pexioto and Assistant Professor Di Wang as new members of CBRC effective 1st of July 2022.

Alexandre is a Professor in Bioscience. His main research interests are centered around the study of microbial diversity, evolution and new microbial metabolisms, using conventional tools associated to multi-omics approaches to understand the evolutionary history, ecological roles, and physiological capacity and capabilities of free-living and symbiotic microorganisms, including those found at the extremes of where life exists.

Ivan is a Professor in Computer Science. His research interest are in scalable technology for interactive molecular visualization with the ultimate goal of constructing, visualizing, and modeling  the entire complex biological cell at atomistic detail. This technology will allow people to interact, explore, study, and understand the life at nanoscale.

Raquel is a Associate Professor in Marine Science. Prof. Peixoto's research has outlined the protocols and proved the concept that the manipulation of coral-associated microorganisms, using Beneficial Microorganisms for Corals (BMCs), is possible and can increase the host's resilience and resistance against environmental threats.

Di Wang is a Assistant Professor in Computer Science and the Principal Investigator of the KAUST Privacy-Awareness, Responsibility and Trustworthy (PART) Lab. Professor Wang's research interests include machine learning (ML), security, theoretical computer science, and data mining.

Once again on behalf of CBRC, Welcome aboard!  We are thrilled to have you and look forward to collaborating with you.
