Biography

David Lago Cachón received his B.Sc. in Physics, specialization in Electronic, Automatism and Signal Processing in 2008 and his M.Sc. in Science and Technology of Materials in 2010, both from University of Oviedo. He obtained his PhD in Applied Physics in 2016, with qualification Excellent cum laude and proposed to Extraordinary doctorate award. 

At the same time, he has been highly implicated in Science Communication, given talks in schools, pubs and even a TEDx. Also, he has been interviewed and consulted by local and regional media. With some friends he created an astronomy club and organized star parties and other public events with high attendance.

Currently he is a postdoctoral fellow at the Communication and Computing Lab, working in Body Area Networks (BAN), Reflective Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and Full Duplex wireless communication. At the same time he is acting as Lab Manager, Lab Safety Representative and Webmaster.

He is member of the Spanish Royal Physics Society (RSEF), the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) and the Spanish Magnetism Club (CEMAG).

  • Second prize at Business Endeavor Ideas organized by University of Oviedo, 2012.
  • Best oral presentation at Jornada de seguimiento de proyectos, Instituto Universitario de Tecnología de Asturias 2012.
  • Second best oral presentation at Jornada de seguimiento de proyectos, Instituto Universitario de Tecnología de Asturias 2014.
  • Second place Best Scientific Capture Award. 5th Young Researchers in Magnetism 2021.
