AMCS Seminar | Error analysis for discontinuous Galerkin approximations of compressible liquid-vapor flows

We consider a model problem for compressible visco-capillary liquid-vapor flows in Lagrangean coordinates. We present a stability framework for this model which uses the higher order (capillarity) terms in order to compensate for the non-convexity of the energy density. Using this stability framework we prove a priori and a posteriori error estimates for semi-discrete discontinuous Galerkin schemes.This is joint work with T. Pryer (Reading).

Biography: Jan Giesselmann received his PhD from University of Stuttgart in 2011. After working as a postdoctoral researcher at Archimedes Center (Crete) and Weierstrass Institute (Berlin) he returned to University of Stuttgart where he recently finished his habilitation.
