CS Seminar | Solving Data Quality Problems using Web Big Data

Start Date: November 30, 2015
End Date: November 30, 2015

By Professor Zhixu Li (School of Computer Science and Technology in Soochow University )

In the big data era, the quality of the data everywhere has decreased sharply in six dimensions: erroneous, inconsistency, missing, obsolete, unavailable and probabilistic. Many research problems have arisen from processing with low-quality data sources, among which Data Linkage and Data Imputation have attracted the most attention. In this talk, we will introduce the idea of our novel solutions to the two data quality problems based on Web Big Data. Based on the premise that the knowledge and information residing in external sources over the World Wide Web can provide external information and knowledge for better addressing the two data quality problems, we propose to extract the required information and knowledge from the World Wide Web for data linkage and imputation.
