Muhammad Karimi, KAUST graduate (Ph.D. '19) and co-founder of the KAUST-supported startup company SensoTech, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2020 "Young Technical Professional of the Year" category. The premier oil and gas industry event will be held virtually from November 9-12, 2020.
Yiming Yang is an electronic science and technology graduate who will join KAUST from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). Yiming will join KAUST as a M.S./Ph.D. candidate and member of the KAUST Integrated Microwaves Packaging Antennas and Circuits Technology Research Group under the supervision of Professor Atif Shamim. After completing his studies, Yiming aspires to be a productive researcher in antenna and microwave circuit design.

PhD student of IMPACT Lab, Shuai Yang has successfully defended his PhD dissertation. His PhD dissertation is entitled "Additively Manufactured Vanadium Dioxide (VO₂) based Radio Frequency Switches and Reconfigurable Components“. He also got the job offer of postdoctoral fellow in Westlake University, China. Congratulations Dr. Yang!

Zere Iman is a 22-year-old graduate who will join KAUST from Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan. Iman will join us in the fall of 2020 as an M.S./Ph.D. candidate in the KAUST Integrated Microwaves Packaging Antennas and Circuits Technology Research Group, under the supervision of Professor Atif Shamim.

​IEEE APS is organizing the 11thAnnual Student Design Competition this year in Montreal. The topic for this year is “Radar applications in everyday life”. Out of 30 submissions, only 6 teams have been selected as finalists in the competition. KAUST IMPACT Lab team, in collaboration with UESTC,  has qualified for the finals.

​Muhammad Akram Karimi, a fourth-year Ph.D. student working in the Integrated Microwaves Packaging Antennas & Circuits Technology(IMPACT) Lab headed by Prof. Atif Shamim in CEMSE division, recently won the Three Minute Thesis(3MT) Competition held during the IEEE MTT International Microwave Symposium (IMS2019) in Boston, US.
Muhammad Akram Karimi describes himself as an inquisitive-minded researcher who loves to solve industrial challenges through science and technology. Karimi is a third year Ph.D. student working in the Integrated Microwaves Packaging Antennas & Circuits Technology (IMPACT) Lab under the supervision of Professor Atif Shamim. His current research focus is on the design of low-cost and printed microwave sensors for various industrial applications, with a prime focus on the oil industry.
