Abstract

The challenges experienced by the oil and gas sector over the past decade have been a driver for change and technology adoption. In addition to an overview of oilfield applications that continue to experience the benefits of today’s digital transformation, the talk will shed some light on oilfield research and technology developments at KAUST.

Brief Biography

Shehab Ahmed is Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering. He holds a joint appointment as Professor of Energy Resources and Petroleum Engineering at KAUST and is a member of the Ali I. Al-Naimi Petroleum Engineering Research Center (ANPERC). His 22 year career is a mix of academic and industry appointments, the latter solely in the oilfield. Before joining KAUST in August 2018 he held appointments at Texas A&M University, USA, Schlumberger Technology, USA, Texas A&M University at Qatar and Oman Drilling Systems. He leverages his core expertise in electromechanics, energy conversion and applied control to address challenges across the energy domain.
