Biography


Michael Krone received a diploma in computer science (Dipl.-Inf.) and a Ph.D. in computer science (Dr. rer. nat. with honors) from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. Since 2018, he is a Junior Professor at the University of Tübingen, Germany, where he heads the Big Data Visual Analytics in Life Sciences (BDVA) group. Prior to that, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Visualization Research Center of the University of Stuttgart (VISUS) and a guest lecturer at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

His research interests include Visualization, Computer Graphics and GPU-Accelerated Computing in general with a focus on Molecular Visualization, Visual Analysis of Biomedical Data, Particle-based Rendering, Web-based Visualization, and Large Data.

Dr. Krone has served as a reviewer for many conferences and journals in the field (e.g., IEEE TVCG, ACM TOG, CGF, IEEE VIS, ACM SIGGRAPH Asia, Eurographics, EuroVis) and has been a member of program committees (e.g., IEEE VIS, IEEE PacificVis, Eurovis, BioVis) and papers co-chair for conferences and workshops (VINCI, EG VCBM). In 2016, he received a Doctoral Dissertation Award Honorable Mention by the IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee Visualization Pioneer Group.
