The CEMSE Division has recently welcomed a new Professor of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Jeff Shamma. Prof. Shamma joins from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), where he is the Julian T. Hightower Chair in Systems & Control in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prof. Shamma received the American Automatic Control Council Donald P. Eckman Award in 1996 and the Mohammed Dahleh Award in 2013, and he was elected a Fellow of the IEEE in 2006. He has been at KAUST since the 29th of July this year.
Prof. Shamma is known for his early work in robust control systems, particularly on gain-scheduled nonlinear control design and linear parameter varying (LPV) systems. His most recent research has been in the area of game theory and decision making in distributed architecture engineered and societal systems. Prof. Shamma is a Senior Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems and an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics.
What are your research interests?
My research interest is in the general area of feedback control and systems theory. My most recent research has been in decision and control for distributed multiagent systems and the related topics of game theory and network science, with applications to both cyber-physical and societal network systems.
