Congratulations to Yan for successfully defending her PhD thesis

Yan Gong earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in China. She went on to pursue her Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics at KAUST, where she was mentored by Prof. Raphael Huser. Yan's research focuses on Extreme Value Theory and its various applications, including the development of copula models, graphical models, and causal inference.

Following the completion of her Ph.D. at KAUST, Yan will be embarking on an exciting journey of academic pursuits. First, she will be taking up a short-term postdoctoral position in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London in the UK. After that, Yan will be joining the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as a postdoctoral researcher.
