Who and Where We Are

We are a group of applied math students, studying at KAUST, in Thuwal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who are trying to share their interest in mathematics and network with people studying or working in the field of mathematics and their applications. We are located at Building 1, Al-Khawarizmi Building of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (see here).

Our goals

Our main goals are:

  • To build strong connections between SIAM and the students of KAUST, between students and faculty, and among students from different research areas
  • To encourage and help students to apply mathematics to real-world problems, by establishing links with industrial partners
  • To promote the development of industrial and applied mathematics at KAUST
  • To meet professionals from major research institutions, corporations and universities who were once where we are now
  • To promote research in applied mathematics

Our Activities

Our events and activities include:

  • Workshops on particular topics in applied mathematics and computational sciences
  • Invited talks given by faculty and researchers
  • Research seminars
  • Student seminars where members can present their own work
  • Summer schools
  • Soft-skills seminars (LaTeX, Python, Presentation Skills, etc.)
  • Social events
