Amin Allam (CEMSE PhD) wins the second prize in the DREAM Challenge 1B

Amin Allam (CEMSE PhD student in the InfoCloud group) supervised by Prof Panos Kalnis has won the second prize in the AstraZeneca-Sanger Drug Combination Prediction DREAM Challenge 1B. Amin Allam utilized Bayesian inference to achieve the 2nd place.

Amin Allam (CEMSE Ph.D. student in the InfoCloud group) supervised by Prof Panos Kalnis has won the second prize in the AstraZeneca-Sanger Drug Combination Prediction DREAM Challenge 1B; a competition among  951 participants from top institutes all over the world - including Stanford, Virginia Tech, Cambridge, Yale, and MIT. He competed to predict the effect of combining two drugs on cancer cells. Amin Allam utilized Bayesian inference to achieve the 2nd place. During his Ph.D., Amin published in Bioinformatics and PVLDB journals and achieved the 1st place in ACM SIGMOD Programming Contest 2012.
