About
Symbolic methods have long been the dominant approach to Artificial Intelligence. In symbolic AI, symbols denote entities in the world, combinations of symbols form expressions, and symbol manipulation rules are used to generate new expressions. Recent applications of symbolic AI include knowledge graphs and the Semantic Web. I will talk about symbolic representations in bioinformatics, in particular, the role of knowledge representation and reasoning in biological data integration and data analysis.
