Five research groups from CBRC participated in this year's National Academic Talent Development Program (NATDP) Symposium on April 20.
The Knowledge Mining Lab presented their research on Microbial Knowledge-based Expolaration Systems as well as Novel Computational Methods that Facilitate Development of Cyanofactories for Free Fatty Acid Production.
The Bio-Ontology Research Group presented their work on Semantic Prioritization of Novel Causative Genomic Variants.
The Structural Biology and Engineering Lab prepared OSVR glasses and showed guests proteins projected in 3D.
The Structural and Functional Bioinformatics Group displayed 3D printouts of drug-protein interactions and explained the research they conducted on Predicting New Molecular Targets for Existing Drugs using a Stochastic Pocket Ensemble.
The Comparative Genomics and Genetics Lab presented their work on Single Cell Microfluidics Application: Bio-prospecting of the Red Sea Microbiota for Industrially Relevant Enzymes.
The event's objectives were to strengthen partnerships with in-Kingdom universities, cultivate the next generation of Saudi faculty and academic leaders, and help position KAUST as a destination for future academic talent to earn their higher degrees.
The 141 guests present at the event were deans, faculty, teaching assistants and others holding various university positions.
