Adil Salhi is a Research Engineer at Prof. Xin Gao's Structural and Functional Bioinformatics Group (SFB) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Adil obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK.
Research Interests
Adil's research interests lie in the area of data and text mining of biomedical literature. The extraction of new information from disparate structured data sources, or available information buried in free-form text, requires the deployment of a wide array of tools to overcome the challenges posed by the nature and size of such data. Controlled vocabularies, ontologies, natural language processing, statistical analysis, and machine learning are usually deployed in combinations to tackle some of the problems in the field. This can only be enabled through the use of efficient database systems and HPC resources.
