Humans are highly visual creatures. We greatly depend on our eyes to perceive the world around us and understand it. Yet biomolecular structures do not reflect light, and thus escape even the best microscopes, which hinders our ability to study them. Only computer graphics can reveal this hidden realm.

Dr. Alexandre A. Kouyoumdjian has joined the Nanovisualization Research Group as a Research Scientist working with Professor Ivan Viola. His main research interests are Visualization & Computer Graphics, Human-Computer Interaction & Virtual Reality, and Microarchitecture. Dr. Alexandre A. Kouyoumdjian has also worked in the industry as an R&D Consultant for a start-up that develops VR applications meant to ease chronic pain and a graphics programmer for a game studio.
