Thomas Hollt was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Visual Computing Center (VCC) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Currently, he’s an Assistant Professor at Computational Biology Center in Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands.

Education and Early Career

Thomas joined KAUST as a Ph.D. student in Computer Science under the supervision of Professor Markus Hadwiger. After he graduated in 2013, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Visual Computing Center. Later on, he joined the Earth Fluid Modeling and Prediction Group at KAUST as a Research Consultant for Visualization.

Research Interest

His main research is in the visual analysis of high dimensional data with a strong focus on the Cytosplore project. Cytosplore is a framework for visual analysis of single-cell data acquired using Mass Cytometry. The data consists of high dimensional expression data for single cells taken through blood- or tissue samples.

Previously, he worked on the visualization of ensemble data and uncertainty, mostly for ocean forecasts, but also in other geological and geophysical applications. He developed Ovis, a framework for visual analysis of ocean forecasts.
