To help celebrate the arrival of phase 1 of Shaheen3, an HPE-Cray supercomputer ranked #20 globally as of the November 2023 Top500 list, we are pleased to announce the upcoming KAUST Research Conference on Divide, Conquer and Combine Methods in Large-scale Simulation and Analytics, a.k.a. the 28th International Conference on Domain Decomposition Methods ( DD28) from January 28 to February 1, 2024, at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia.
Overview
To help celebrate the arrival of phase 1 of Shaheen3, an HPE-Cray supercomputer ranked #20 globally as of the November 2023 Top500 list, we are pleased to announce the upcoming KAUST Research Conference on Divide, Conquer and Combine Methods in Large-scale Simulation and Analytics, a.k.a. the 28th International Conference on Domain Decomposition Methods (DD28) from January 28 to February 1, 2024, at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia.
The DD28 conference focuses on massively parallel computational modeling, simulation, analytics and machine learning. It is expected to be of interest to mathematicians, computer scientists, computational scientists, and computational engineers. Supercomputer hardware is only as good as the software that runs on it. The software must be optimized to the hardware for efficient use of the latter, maximizing the science and engineering runs executed per unit of energy to power and cool the system.
For 35 years, experts in distributed memory algorithms have gathered at the Domain Decomposition conference series to exchange their latest ideas. DD28 is the first such conference downstream of revolutionary advances in artificial intelligence that demand increasing memory and processing resources and therefore novel solutions.
This five-day conference promises an excellent opportunity to exchange information on the latest trends and scientific, software, and industrial applications of domain decomposition methods.
Registration
The registration process for KAUST-affiliated individuals is single-stage and free of charge. (Please ignore the two-stage payment instructions at the public-facing webpage linked below.) Advance registration is required. Please register no later than Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Full-time KAUST degree candidates should clear their attendance with their academic advisor. An optional but highly recommended 3-hour tutorial will be offered on Sunday, January 28, 2024 to provide a background for the mathematics of the week to come and an introduction to the Portable Extensible Toolkit for Scientific Computing (PETSc) software in which many applications of divide, conquer and combine methods are implemented.
Register here.
Plenary speakers
Over five days, the conference brings together leading international experts at the forefront of their respective areas of expertise. Check the list of the plenary speakers here.
