Abstract

In my lecture, I will share personal insights on transitioning from academia to management consulting and creating startups. I will discuss how to assess if a career in management consulting suits your goals and skills, and provide practical advice on interviewing successfully with consulting firms. Drawing from my own experiences, I will offer strategies for excelling in these roles, focusing on adapting to the fast-paced consulting environment and meeting client expectations. This talk is tailored to guide students in making informed decisions about their career paths and to equip them with the tools for success in the world of management consulting.

Brief Biography

Dr. Gareth Guvanasen is a Partner at Terra Digital Ventures and Director of its AI & Data Analytics Division.  Prior to joining Terra, he was a Principal at Boston Consulting Group where he focused on helping clients identify growth opportunities, and build new businesses.  He was also named a recipient of their annual BCG Key to Purpose Award.  He earned his B.S. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Duke University, Durham, NC, USA, in 2008, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA, in 2010 and 2015, respectively
