Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) has ushered a new era in many fields including retail, medicine, agriculture, and the automotive industry. In fact, it is projected that by 2025, one trillion IoT devices will be deployed worldwide: the equivalent of 1000 devices per person. To reach such a scale, major advancements are needed in various IoT-enabling technologies, including sensing, localization, and communication. In the first part of this talk, I will share a few applications of these technologies that are pursued in my lab. In the second part, I will focus on Terahertz (THz) band communications which is a key enabler for future-generation wireless communication systems. The promises to support and integrate a wide range of data-demanding applications, enabling the convergence of sensing, localization, imaging, and communications.
