Mario Messih is a Former Visiting student from the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy at Professor Xin Gao's Structural and Functional Bioinformatics Group at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Mario Finished his Ph.D. study with Prof. Anna Tramontano at the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, and currently, Mario is a postdoc fellow at Yale University.

Research Interests

Mario's research interests included Bioinformatics and computational biology. His main interests lie at the intersection of machine learning, statistics and their applications on analyzing large databases. During his Ph.D., he focused mainly on using such integrative approach in order to have a holistic view connecting proteins/antibodies structure, interaction networks and consequently function annotation. Currently, his postdoc research focuses on understanding how translation is regulated, and how multiple regulatory inputs act in concert to explain the dynamics of mRNA decay and translation efficiency across the transcriptome and how conserved these regulatory elements are across species.
