The Sensing, Magnetism and Microsystems (SMM) group is a research group in the division of Electrical Engineering at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
We are working on the development of micro and nano transducers with a focus on magnetic devices, which offer various advantages in many applications due to remote control and sensing capabilities.
Our efforts are driven by applications in different fields ranging from multifunctional sensors over energy harvesters and biomedical systems to spintronic devices.
Benefiting from the state-of-the art laboratories at KAUST, we apply the latest fabrication and characterization technologies to push the capabilities of devices and explore new pathways that can provide better solutions.
Work is currently in progress on sensors (biomedical, wireless, flexible), magnetic nanocomposite materials and devices, magnetic nanowires and their applications for cancer treatment and high-density data storage as well as nanoprobes for single cell analysis.
