Stochnum Student Eya Ben Amar's Participation in a Numerical Optimization Teaching Experience at the Ministry of Interior

Eya ben Amar had the opportunity of participating as a teaching assistant in a short course on Numerical Optimization at the Ministry of Interior in Riyadh. The course was a part of a new master’s program in AI specifically designed to cater for the ministry’s technology needs, offered by KAUST at King Fahd Security College. The course was taught by Prof. George Turkiyyah, a Research Professor at KAUST, who brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom. The course spanned eight intense days, during which she assisted students in solving various problems and answered their questions to help them understand the material. She also participated in preparing assignments and exams, as well as grading them. This experience was invaluable, offering  the chance to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups. Explaining mathematical concepts from various perspectives not only reinforced the understanding but also enhanced the communication skills.

We are grateful to Prof. George for giving this opportunity and for the valuable lessons  learned from this experience. Our team had many fruitful discussions, and we learned a great deal from each other. The collaborative environment and shared commitment to helping students succeed made this an exceptional experience.
