The newly developed MetricGraph package is now available on CRAN. The package facilitates creation and manipulation of metric graphs, such as street or river networks. Further facilitates operations and visualizations of data on metric graphs, and the creation of a large class of random fields and stochastic partial differential equations on such spaces.
The paper Local Scale Invariance and Robustness of Proper Scoring Rules have been published in Statistical Science.
The paper Equivalence of measures and asymptotically optimal linear prediction for Gaussian random fields with fractional-order covariance operators is now in press in the Bernoulli journal.
The article The SPDE approach for Gaussian and non-Gaussian fields: 10 years and still running is now available in Spatial Statistics. It contains a comprehensive review of the approach, the recent theoretical advances, and some of the most important applications.
The article Spatial Bayesian GLM on the cortical surface produces reliable task activations in individuals and groups, which investigates the accuracy of SPDE-based models for cs-fMRI data, is now in press in NeuroImage.
Version 1.0.0 of the rSPDE package has been released on CRAN. It includes an interface to R-INLA and new improved rational approximations of SPDE models. See https://davidbolin.github.io/rSPDE/ for examples and tutorials.
Prof. Bolin will teach a winter school on spatial statistics and SPDEs in Lugano, Switzerland and Pavia, Italy in December. The course is given jointly with Prof. Paula Moraga, Prof. Håvard Rue, and Dr. Elias Krainski from KAUST. For details on the event, see the homepage:
The paper Efficient methods for Gaussian Markov random fields under sparse linear constraints, joint with Jonas Wallin, has been accepted to the 35th Annual Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS 2021), which will be run virtually during December 6
The article Necessary and sufficient conditions for asymptotically optimal linear prediction of random fields on compact metric spaces by K. Kirchner and D. Bolin has been accepted for publication in the Annals of Statistics.
The paper Extreme rainfall events in the Northeastern USA become more frequent with rising temperatures, but their intensity distribution remains stable by Helga Olafsdottir, Holger Rootzén, and David Bolin has been published in Journal of Climate.
The paper Functional ANOVA modelling of pedestrian counts on streets in three European cities by David Bolin, Vilhelm Verendel, Meta Berghauser Pont, Ioanna Stavroulaki, Oscar Ivarsson, and Erik Håkansson has been pub
As of December 2020, David Bolin is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute. ISI Elected membership is open to individuals who are established in their careers and have made significant contributions to the statistical profession.
