Siba I. Alharbi

Siba received her bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from Alfaisal University in 2018 and was the Valedictorian of her class. In 2020, she received her master’s degree in Bioscience from KAUST. She continued at KAUST and is currently a PhD student in the structural biology and engineering lab (StruBE) under the supervision of Professor Stefan Arold. Her research focus is on elucidating the structure and function of specific eukaryotic protein kinases. Research Interests ​Being a biophysicist by training, I investigate fundamental processes of life at the molecular level. I employ methods like x-ray diffraction or single-particle cryo-electron microscopy to obtain structures of biological macromolecules. Moreover, I investigate interactions of these molecules by biophysical and biochemical methods to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms for basic cellular processes such as signal transduction, protein trafficking, and enzyme regulation, etc. Besides, I produce engineered molecules with predicted properties to further corroborate my
