What was your main subject during your master’s degree? Why did you choose it?

During my master’s degree, I studied applied mathematics. I chose it because I was excited that I was learning the language of our universe; a “language” that I could use it to expand the boundaries of science.

Why have you chosen to study a Ph.D. at KAUST?

KAUST is a perfect place for studies; it has eminent professors, cutting-edge facilities, a multicultural environment and is a great place to thrive academically and personally.

When did your interest in applied mathematics and computational sciences arise? What are your research interests?

Since my time in university, I have known that I wanted to use mathematics to solve physical problems and explain the laws of our universe. This is the reason why I want to specialize in partial differential equations and mathematical modeling.

What do you do in your spare time? What are you passionate about?

I love listening to music, reading books and watching movies. I also like acting and performing. I am passionate about traveling and getting to know new people and cultures.

What is your future outlook?

I want to pursue an academic career and collaborate with other scientists. I also want to carry out research, promote the value of mathematics and inspire young people.

Can you give a piece of advice to students who plan to pursue a M.S./Ph.D. at KAUST?

I will answer using a famous quote: “Your work is to discover your world and then, with all your heart, give yourself to it.”
