Nazek El-Atab, KAUST assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering and the principal investigator of the Smart, Advanced Memory Devices and Applications (SAMA) Lab, has been recently selected to serve as a Distinguished Lecturer (DL) for the IEEE Electron Devices Society.
The primary purpose of the IEEE EDS Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) is to have well-known international educators, researchers and authors provide quality lectures and host technical meetings on state-of-the-art electron device technologies. These events help individual EDS Global Chapters to fulfill their members’ needs for “easy access to and exchange of technical information, publishing, education, and technical recognition and enhancing public visibility in the field of Electron Devices.”
In her new capacity as an IEEE DL, El-Atab must perform at least three lectures for EDS Chapters over a two-year period. El-Atab is also serving as the Western Saudi Arabia Section Chapter Chair, a position she has held since December 2020.
“It is my great honor to be appointed as an IEEE Electron Devices Society Distinguished Lecturer, where I will be among a pool of globally recognized experts promoting the different fields of electron devices to both the scientific community and public at large,” El-Atab noted.
“I hope that in my new capacity as an IEEE DL, I will be able to encourage more young students into joining the IEEE EDS society. I also hope to inspire more local students to take on careers in the different branches of electron devices and to contribute to the technological advances that we are currently enjoying,” she added.
The Lebanese researcher’s current research focuses on the design and development of innovative smart memory electronic devices for futuristic in-memory sensing and in-memory computing applications. El-Atab has also worked on several high-impact projects based on the design and fabrication of futuristic electronics and techniques for internet-of-things (IoT) applications.
