Dr. Islam Ashry, a research scientist based in the KAUST Photonics Laboratory, has been named to the National Academy of Inventors’ 2023 class of Senior Members. Ashry will be officially inducted as a Senior Member at the 12th NAI Annual Meeting, which will take place from June 26-27, 2023, in Washington D.C., U.S.
Asmaa Abdallah, a postdoctoral research fellow at KAUST Communication and Computing Systems Lab (CCSL), has been named a Leading Innovator under 35 in the MENA region by MIT Technology Review Arabia.
Earlier this year, KAUST Professor of Electrical Engineering Ahmed Eltawil was elected as a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). Eltawil was officially inducted as a Senior Member at the recent NAI 10th Annual Meeting held in Florida, U.S.
KAUST Professor of Electrical Engineering Ahmed Eltawil has recently been honored as the winner of the 8th Annual SSoE Spring Faculty Awards "Innovator of the Year" by the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, University of California, Irvine (UCI). The award is presented annually to the most innovative, current or former, UCI faculty member who has “demonstrated excellence by developing a breakthrough technology, idea or process and has demonstrated its large potential to create economic value and improve lives.”
Graduate student Diego Augusto Silva will join KAUST from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics, Brazil. Diego obtained his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of São João del-Rei and his master's degree in electronic engineering and computing in electronic devices and systems from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics, Brazil, respectively. He will join KAUST at the end of first semester.
