Studying computer science was my drive and motivation to continue university studies.

Ahmed Abdulmajeed Alabdulkarim earned a master's degree from KAUST in 2011. His research interests are in the field of big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and he is now pursuing his Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the U.S. He received his bachelor's degree with honors in computer science from King Saud University, where he graduated at the top of his class.

From a young age, Alabdulkarim was passionate about computers. Studying computer science was his drive and motivation to continue his university studies.

He explained that he chose KAUST for his graduate studies because of the University's reputation as an excellent research institution. He felt that the University could offer all the elements needed by a student to pursue research interests as well as a future career in science and technology.

"Trust in yourself and keep your humility. Take advantage of all the opportunities available to you with dedication and diligence to develop your scientific, personal and teamwork skills," Alabdulkarim said.

Alabdulkarim noted his time at KAUST was the starting point for his growth as a scientist and researcher, describing KAUST as a perfect environment for students to achieve their academic goals. The University has opened up a promising future for him and has enriched his experience by his interactions with distinguished scientists, faculty members and students from around the world.
