King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) held its 5th 6G Summit, bringing together regional and international leaders in wireless communications to explore recent advancements for next-generation networks. The event covered AI-driven network optimization, extreme band wireless communications, and sustainable tech for digital transformation in smart cities and industry 4.0.
Prof. Mohamed-Slim Alouini, chair of the summit's organizing committee, highlighted the summit’s central theme by emphasizing 6G’s evolving ecosystem. In this context, he stressed that 6G is about much more than connectivity by encompassing new possibilities and applications, in air/space, Internet of Things (IoT), digital twins, sensing, and AI-driven applications, which could transform industries and societies. The summit also featured collaborations with industry giants like Ericsson and Aramco, reinforcing the Kingdom’s vision of a digitally connected future.
