From April 2014 to June 2018 Hesham ElSawy was a postdoctoral fellow in the Communication Theory Lab (CTL), at the Computer, Electrical, and Mathematical Sciences and Engineering division (CEMSE), King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is now an assistant professor in King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Eastern Province, KSA
