About

Anna Fruehstueck was a Ph. D. candidate under the supervision of Prof. Peter Wonka at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and successfully defended her PhD in Computer Science on April 17, 2023.

Education and Early Career

Anna Fruehstueck obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Informatics and Visual Computing from Vienna University of Technology in Austria in 2011. Later on in 2015, she received her M.Sc. degree in Visual Computing from Vienna University of Technology in Austria.

During her studies, Anna worked as software developer at SimVis in Vienna, Austria. And in 2016, she was a research trainee and software developer at Surgical Planning Lab in Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston.

Research Interest

Anna is developing techniques for large-scale image synthesis using generative machine learning methods such as Generative Adversarial Networks, focusing on the generation of high-quality content, the controllability and plausible compositing of the output. More generally, she is interested in computer graphics topics related to synthesis and modeling.

Honors and Awards

Anna was awarded a fellowship by Facebook Research (now Meta Research) in 2020. She also received a scholarship for scientific work abroad from Vienna University of Technology in the year 2014. In addition to that, she graduated with distinction from Vienna University of Technology for her master degree in 2015.
