Sandeep Surya
- Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Sensors
About
Dr. Sandeep Surya is currently a Post-Doctoral fellow at the Sensors Lab, in the Electrical Engineering Department, CEMSE, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
Education and Early Career
Dr. Sandeep G. Surya received his Ph.D. degree from IIT Bombay in 2017. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow with Sensors Lab, CEMSE Division, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. Prior to this, he was a Research Associate with the Microsystems Technology Research Unit, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento, Italy. His forte is in building platforms for different sensor applications and is a nominated fellow for sensors initiative program to work at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He demonstrated experience in leading inter-disciplinary research and collaborations by publishing 30 articles and five patents (authored/co-authored). Earlier, he was a member of a group working on the development of standoff explosive detection technology using OFETs and nano-electro-mechanical-sensors. He was also a member of the team e-sanjeevani, which developed a project on Telemedicine, which earned wide recognition and was adjudged first in many national level symposia. His work has received the P. P. Chhabria Award of Excellence in intelligent systems and robotics for the year 2009, the Fellowship from ISED 2011, the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award from IIM-A 2012. In 2019, he was awarded the “Young Achiever Award" in "International Business and Academic Excellence Awards (IBAE-2019)”, Dubai.
Research Interests
Dr. Sandeep is interested in building platforms for different sensor applications of inter-disciplinary nature. In addition, his interest span research and development of hand-held devices for standoff chemical detection using Organic electronics and nano-electro-mechanical-sensors (NEMS).
