About Asem Al Alwan Asem Al Alwan Ph.D. Student, Electrical and Computer Engineering Control Theory inverse problems Controller design Fractional calculus Asem Alalwan is a Ph.D. candidate in the Estimation, Modeling, and Analysis group (EMAN) supervised by Prof. Meriem Laleg at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Asem has graduated with a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals KFUPM) in 2014. He joined KAUST in 2014 and earned his Master degree in 2016. Research Interests Asem's research is focused in the area of control and design of Free-space optical (FSO) communication systems. FSO has emerged as a viable technology that offers a large capacity usage (data Events Presented Events Dec 19 - Dec 25, 2021 Control Design for Alignment Problem in Optical Wireless Communication Asem Al Alwan , Ph.D. Student, Electrical and Computer Engineering Dec 23, 16:00 - 18:00 KAUST Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) offers many benefits over established radio frequency-based communication links. In particular, high beam directivity generates efficient power usage and high-speed data services. Moreover, due to its ease of deployment, high transmission security, license-free operation, and insensitivity to interference, the OWC link is becoming an attractive solution for the next generation of communication systems.
