Abstract

The rampage of incessant cyber attacks have caused the disclosure of billions of users’ private data. In response, various data privacy laws and regulations have emerged, forcing the academia and industry to change their practice and bringing the demand for large-scale secure wireless networks to the spotlight. Such a demand, however, cannot be met by the state-of-the-art cryptographic techniques. To narrow the gap, recent years have seen rapid progress in physical layer security (PLS) solutions. In this talk, I will present our research on understanding and addressing the security challenges in this new wireless networks paradigm and enhancing its design to achieve scalability.

Brief Biography

(Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees (Hons.) in radio engineering, electronics, and telecommunications from the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunication (Almaty, Kazakhstan) in 2009 and 2011, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Wireless Communications from the University of Manchester (Manchester, UK) in 2016. From 2016 to 2018, he held several academic and research positions with Nazarbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan) L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Astana, Kazakhstan) and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (Doha, Qatar). In 2019, he joined Nazarbayev University as an Assistant Professor. His research interests include wireless communication systems, with a particular focus on reconfigurable intelligent surface-enabled communications, multiuser MIMO systems, cognitive radio, signal processing, energy harvesting, visible light communications, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), and interference mitigation.
Dr. Nauryzbayev served as a technical program committee member for numerous IEEE flagship conferences. He serves as a member of the National Research Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
