ITU Connect2Recover research competition

Through the Connect2Recover initiative, the United Nations International Telecom Union (ITU) has organized the "Connect2Recover Research Competition" to identify promising research proposals that will accelerate digital inclusion during the COVID-19 recovery globally. A team from the Communication Theory Lab (CTL) at KAUST and the University of Warwick was selected to work on a research project that plans to offer recommendations for on-demand connectivity in rural and remote areas whose populations often suffer disproportionately during pandemics and disaster situations. More specifically, the team intends to optimize the planning of light to carry, easy to deploy, and cost-effective network in a box-based solutions to foster digital inclusion in such environments.
