Fahad S. Alqurashi, a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering within the CTL group at KAUST, has been honored with the 2023 research award from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The recognition, held during LEAP 2024: the annual tech event held in Riyadh, Feb 10-13, 2024, comes as part of the MICT Technology Foresight Center’s second edition research competition, where Eng. Alqurashi showcased exemplary dedication and innovation in his field. His commendable efforts have earned him this accolade. Eng. Alqurashi’s research, titled “Modelling Free Space Optical Communications Channels for All Conditions System Deployment,” is a new promising endeavor that holds a great potential for advancing the communication infrastructure within Saudi Arabia. By meticulously modeling free space optical communications channels for various environmental conditions, his research paves the way for robust system deployment capable of overcoming diverse challenges. As such, this research work lays the groundwork for the seamless integration of advanced communication systems, contributing to the Kingdom’s vision for a technologically advanced and interconnected society.
