Mohammed Zidan (EE PhD Candidate) received the best postgraduate poster award at the SIECPS conference

Mohammed Affan Zidan, a Ph.D. candidate in the Electrical Engineering (EE) Program at the Computer, Electrical, and Mathematical Science and Engineering (CEMSE) Division, received the best postgraduate poster award at the second Saudi International Electronics, Communications, and Photonics Conference, held 27-30 April 2013 in Riyadh, KSA. Mohammed won the prize for his poster titled "Memristor-Based Memories". This conference is second of a series of conferences that occur every two years hosted by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) where researchers discuss novel approaches and state of the art findings in Electronics, Communications, and Photonics. This work, co-authored with Prof. Khaled Salama, addresses the numerous challenges facing memristor-based memories, a promising retainable, high-density resistive memory technology. Mohammed received his bachelor's in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Institute of Aviation Engineering and Technology (IAET), Cairo Egypt in 2006 where he was ranked first. In 2010, he earned a master's in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt, also ranking first. In September 2011, he joined KAUST to complete his Ph.D. in EE. His research interests include memristor circuits and systems and computer architecture.
