Post-Doctoral Fellow Ahmed Bader bestowed YPs Best Innovation Award at IEEE WCNC 2017

Dr. Ahmed Bader, a CEMSE Post-Doctoral Fellow in electrical engineering, won the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc)Young Professionals (YPs) Best Innovation Award at Wireless Communications and Networking Conference 2017, in San Francisco, USA, on March 22.

The purpose of this award is to provide a platform for ComSoc YPs to be recognized for their innovative ideas and to inspire other YPs. "I'm really proud to receive the award and glad to see that my efforts have been acknowledged at one of the flagship IEEE events," said Bader.

IEEE WCNC 2017 is the world premier wireless event renowned for bringing together industry professionals, academics, and individuals from government agencies and other institutions to exchange information and ideas on the advancement of wireless communications and networking technology.

"The award was bestowed in recognition of my work on the design, development, and commercialization of a novel mobile ad hoc networking technology," Bader explained "having major applications into public safety, first response, crowd management, and disaster relief operations."

Ahmed Bader received his B.S. degree from the University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan, in 2003, his M.S. degree from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA, in 2006, and his Ph.D. degree from Telecom ParisTech, Paris, France in 2013, all in electrical engineering.

Ahmed Bader has more than 10 years of experience in the wireless industry and has previously held positions at Emerson and Siemens. Since 2013, he has been with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) first as a consultant, and now as a Post-Doctoral Fellow where he is spearheading several projects that generated a number of patent-pending technologies. 

He is also a co-founder of Insyab Wireless, a Dubai-based company designing real-time connectivity solutions for unmanned systems applied mainly to large-scale wireless networks.
