My goal is to channel my technical and information technology (IT) skills toward proffering lasting solutions to the various challenges facing humanity. Being in KAUST has put me several steps closer to achieving this goal.
Current Position
Basit is currently a remote intern at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
Education
Basit Alawode obtained his BSc degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 2013 with a first-class honor. He obtained his MSc degree in electrical engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia in 2020.
He was a recipient of the MTN science and technology foundation scholarship award between 2010 and 2012, for being one of the best science and engineering undergraduate students in Nigeria. His MSc degree was also fully funded by the ministry of higher education, Saudi Arabia.
In 2019, Basit worked under the supervision of Professor Tareq AlNaffouri for 3 months as a visiting student at KAUST. He worked on the application of neural networks (NNs) on image denoising tasks. This formed the basis of his MSc thesis.
Research Interests
Basit’s research interests include machine learning and signal processing applications to power, control and communication systems, automation and embedded systems design and programming. He also has interests in windows, web and cross-platform mobile applications development.
