Fahd Ahmed Khan, a Ph.D. candidate in the Electrical Engineering (EE) Program at the Computer, Electrical, and Mathematical Science and Engineering (CEMSE) Division, received the best poster award at the IEEE Symposium on New Frontiers in Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks (IEEE DySPAN'2012), held 16-19 October 2012 in Bellevue, Washington, USA.
Fahd won the prize for his paper and poster titled "Outage and SER Performance of an Opportunistic Multi-User Underlay Cognitive Network". His Ph.D. advisor Prof. Mohamed-Slim Alouini, Professor of EE, and collaborators Dr. Kamel Tourki and Prof. Khalid Qaraqe of Texas A&M University in Qatar are also co-authors of the winning paper. Fahd received the B.Sc. degree in EE from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, on May 2007. He completed his Masters in Communications Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, Goteborg, Sweden, in June 2009 before joining KAUST in August 2009 to complete his Ph.D. in EE. His research interests include the design and performance analysis of cooperative and cognitive relaying systems.
