We will give an overview of the development of Abstract Algebra from Galois to our time. The talk will be accessible to general audience with basic mathematical background.
Efim Zelmanov is a Chair Professor at the Southern University of Technology (SUSTech). Prior to joining SUSTech, he held professional roles at several world-renowned institutions, such as University of California-San Diego, Yale University, University of Chicago, and University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Russian Academy of Sciences. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to nonassociative algebra and group theory, he was honored with the Fields Medal in 1994.
