Near Field Wireless Power Transfer: Circuits and Application

Recently, wireless power transfer has been used in mobile phones, electric vehicles, medical implants, wireless sensor networks, unmanned aerial vehicles, and so on. In this seminar, we will walk through circuit theory and simulations that illustrate the nature and constraints of the technology. We will also address contemporary topics related to application of wireless power transfer in electric vehicle applications.

Abstract

Recently, wireless power transfer has been used in mobile phones, electric vehicles, medical implants, wireless sensor networks, unmanned aerial vehicles, and so on. In this seminar, we will walk through circuit theory and simulations that illustrate the nature and constraints of the technology. We will also address contemporary topics related to application of wireless power transfer in electric vehicle applications.

Brief Biography

Shehab received the B.Sc. degree from Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt, in 1999, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA, in 2000 and 2007, respectively. He was with Schlumberger Technology Corporation, Houston, TX, USA, from 2001 to 2007, developing downhole mechatronic systems for oilfield service products. He was with Texas A&M University at Qatar from 2007 to 2018. Since August 2018, he has been Professor of Electrical Engineering with the CEMSE Division and a member of the Ali Al-Naimi Petroleum Engineering Research Center (ANPERC) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. His research interests include subsurface mechatronics, solid-state power conversion and electric machines.
