The Tingye Li Innovation Prize, established in 2013, honors the global impact Dr. Li made to the field of optics and photonics. This prize recognizes the top early career members innovative ideas at CLEO.
The 2021 recipient is Yating Wan, University of California Santa Barbara (USCB), USA who received the prize for her paper "1.3 µm regrown quantum-dot distributed feedback lasers on Si: a pathway to scale towards 1 Tbit/s." This innovative work offers a path towards high-volume, low-cost commercial transceivers enabled by silicon photonics. It is one of the many technical advances she has demonstrated in integrated photonics.
