The KAUST program in Statistics (STAT) educates students to analyze and model complex real-world problems arising in modern Statistical Data Science.

Nowadays, statistics crosses the borders of a vast array of disciplines offering conceptual and practical frames to design scientific investigations, to model real phenomena, predict events and quantify uncertainty out of an unprecedented amount of data made available by the exponential increase in the size of datasets.

Statistics applications range from environmental analysis and extreme climatic events forecasting to the optimization of renewable energy production, geophysics, marine and human biology, as well as medical investigations that could bring a paradigm shift in healthcare practices (for the complete list of courses, please check the STAT Program Guide below).

The STAT program offers two degree programs: the M.S. degree (with or without a final thesis) and the Ph.D. degree. Students interested in both diploma should apply to M.S. + Ph.D. from the start to secure the continuation of their studying at KAUST.

Both degrees have the opportunity to study in various areas such as Bayesian statistics, big data, biostatistics, computational statistics, data visualization, environmental statistics, extreme events, spatial statistics, statistical data science, and time series analysis.

The interdisciplinary research carried out in the individual STAT Faculty Research Groups is complemented by the KAUST Core Lab facilities, the Research Centers affiliated to CEMSE and spans across the University and into international collaborations with industry and research institutions.

Welcome to the Statistics program (statistical data science) at KAUST. We invite you to explore our website to find out about our graduate programs, research highlights and opportunity, job openings, etc. Please feel free to contact us if you need more specific information. THIS IS STATISTICS!.
