Recent advances in mixed finite element approximation for poroelasticity

This talk discusses the non-conforming approximation of Biot's consolidation model. In the first part of the talk, we discuss posteriori error estimators for locking-free mixed finite element approximation of Biot’s consolidation model. In the second part of the talk, we discuss a novel locking-free stochastic Galerkin mixed finite element method for the Biot consolidation model with uncertain Young’s modulus and hydraulic conductivity field.

Prof. David Keyes and his team proposed a GPUs light architecture to solve systems of multiple equations involving a large amount of data. Broadly used in computer gaming, mobile, and PC graphics - GPUs allow customizing an effective result-driven support to create a computational framework for increasing the number of processors while reducing the memory required to temporarily store the data.

Dmitry Logashenko

Research Scientist, Modelling and Simulation
Research Interests Dr. Logashenko is working in the field of the numerical simulation of physical processes. His interests concern development, analysis and implementation of efficient methods for treating the (integro-) partial differential equations on parallel architectures. Main fields of the applications are groundwater flows in fractured porous media and CFD. He also collaborates in the ug4 toolbox project as a developer. Ali Charara

Ali Charara obtained both, his MS Degree and PhD Degree from Computer Science at KAUST in 2011 and 2018 respectively. His master thesis supervisor was Alyn Rockwood and his PhD thesis supervisor was David Keyes. Ali's research interests were in High Performance Computing with a focus on parallel computing and algorithms using multicore and manycore Computer Graphics Units.
