Acoustic metamaterials and metasurfaces for controllable wave manipulation

I will provide an overview on recent researches on acoustic and elastic metamaterials and metasurfaces for controllable wave manipulation, we are developing in my group in the University of Lorraine. I first will present some advances related to low-frequency acoustic and vibration shielding/absorption making use of metamaterials1,2 and metasurfaces3,4, and describe the added value that such artificial engineered materials can bring to consider some innovative applications.

I will introduce the development of effective medium and deep learning models, two distinct methods in the design of metamaterials, followed by some illustrative examples demonstrating the intriguing properties, such as redirection, emission rate enhancement, wave steering, and cloaking.

Universal light encoders: artificial intelligent optical hardware for real-time hyperspectral imaging and ultrasensitive detection

In this talk, I will review the fundamentals and application of this technology in various areas, ranging from the inverse design of ultra-flat optical components to HyplexTM, an innovative camera for acquiring and processing high-resolution hyperspectral videos in real-time at 30 frames per second.

Yiming Yang

Yiming Yang is a Ph.D. candidate at the KAUST Integrated Microwaves Packaging Antennas and Circuits Technology Research Group under the supervision of Professor Atif Shamim. His research interests include frequency selective surfaces, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, and meta-surfaces in combination with additive manufacturing, time modulation, and other fabrication and reconfiguration methods.
