Jonathan Klein is a Research Scientist at the Visual Computing Center (VCC) in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), working with Professor Dominik Michels in the Computational Sciences Group (CSG).

Education and Early Career

Jonathan Klein studied computer sciences at the University of Siegen (Germany). After finishing his master with focus on mathematics and computer graphics, we moved to Bonn (Germany) for his PhD. During this time he focused on computational photography, remote sensing, and non-line-of-sight imaging (a novel remote sensing modality that reveals objects hidden from the direct line of sight of a camera).

Research Interest

Dr. Klein's work in the Computational Sciences Group is focused on physical simulation and plant modelling. In the former, observations of natural phenomenons are modeled through equations (usually partial differential equations) which are then evaluated through domain specific solvers to recreate the observed effects virtually. The later aims to model the structure, growth process and dynamics (e.g. movement induced by external forces) of plants with models inspired from biology.
